Abstract
Iran, as a country with unique climatic and biological diversity, has faced numerous environmental challenges in recent years. Drought, air pollution, destruction of forests and pastures, and loss of biodiversity are just some of these challenges that can have significant negative effects on the country's economy, health, and social security. The main goal of this research is to identify and evaluate the internal and external factors affecting the strategic position of the country's ecological sector. Based on this assessment, macroeconomic and microeconomic measures in the ecological sector are determined and provided to relevant managers. The research method of this research is mixed (qualitative-quantitative) and uses the strategic positioning matrix (including defense or survival, conservative, contingency or competitive, and aggressive strategies). The required information and data have been collected by summarizing the results of the opinions of managers, vice presidents, and experts of companies active in the field of environment and ecology in the country, which have been selected as the statistical population. The results of the research show that among internal factors, the strength components have a higher average than the weakness components, and among external factors, the average of threats is higher than opportunities. Accordingly, the strategic position in the ecological sector is competitive, and the models related to the competitive position that have been introduced in this research can be applied and used for this sector.
